Welcome toThe Federation of Heathfields Infant and Wilnecote Junior SchoolsACHIEVING AND GROWING TOGETHER WITH PRIDE

4/5/20 - 7/5/20

This week's learning is slightly different to that which we have set previously.

Friday 8th May marks the 75th anniversary of VE day. This week we would like you to work on one thing and complete the 4 tasks throughout the week!

Make sure to send us lots of photos of your learning throughout the week!

Don't forget you can access Times Table Rock Stars, Accelerated Maths and Maths Facts in a Flash from home!

If you need help accessing either of these, please send us an email to Year3@heathfields.staffs.sch.uk.

Most importantly, stay safe and have fun!

All children:

Task 2:

-How much money would you spend  during a weekly shopping trip for your family, if you bought all of the rationed items? Can you tell me using the old money amounts.

Clearly show your working out.

Task 3 :

During World War 2, the average wage was four pounds and ten shillings.

Use the table of rationed items and decide on a menu for the week.

Draw a table to show the different foods you will buy with your ration book and the amount you will spend.

Clearly show how you have worked it out. How much would you have left over from your weekly wage?

Add items that you could have grown in your garden – these would be free!

Make sure you don’t spend too much money because you need to keep some for your bills!

Task 4

Mild

If you used the same menu every day, what is the quantity of each rationed item you buy and the cost for a week?

Clearly show your working out.

Challenge: Can you work out the cost for 1 month (30 days)?

Hot/Flaming hot

If you used the same menu each week, what is the quantity of each rationed item you buy and the cost for four weeks?

Clearly show your working out.

Challenge: Can you work out the cost for 1 year?

Task 5

Can you find any cheaper alternative foods? Work out the costs for different foods to try and save some money.
