Achieving Together with PRIDE

# Friday

Counting starter:

In school in every maths lesson, we start by counting forwards and backwards from different numbers. Today I would like you to count forwards and backwards in 4s from 12.

Today we will look at division using bus stop method. In school we always use concrete, pictorial and abstract methods to help us to work out our answers. Watch the video below to recap. Maybe you could use something in your house that you could use as hundreds, tens and ones if you need it to support you or draw them pictorially.

Chilli Challenge - remember to move onto the next challenge if you feel confident!

Mild - you do not need to use bus stop method for this challenge. You could use an array instead.

1) 24÷2

2) 30÷5

3) 21÷3

4) 25÷5

5) 16÷2

6) 30÷3

Hot

Flaming hot - on this challenge there will be remainders. Watch the video below to recap how to record a remainder,

1) 27÷5

2) 49÷4

3) 74÷6

4) 34÷3

5) 67÷9

*Challenge*

Miss Green has been thinking of different numbers. Can you find out what numbers she is thinking of, by working backwards.

1) I am thinking of a number, I multiplied my number by 3 and got an answer of 39. What number did I start with?

2) I have now thought of a new number. I multiply the number by 2 and add 5. I then multiply the number by 2. My answer is 30. What number did I start off with?

3) I am thinking of a number and double the number. I divide the number by 4 and then multiply it by 20. My answer is 200. Can you work out what number I started off with?

Take photos of your work and send them into your teachers - Year3@wilnecote-junior.staffs.sch.uk

We look forward to seeing your fabulous work!
