# Maths

This week we would have been exploring place value in our Maths lessons.

In Year 2 we learn to:

• Count in steps of 2, 3 and 5 from 0, and in tens from any number, forward and backward.
• Recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number (tens and ones).
• Compare and order numbers from 0 up to 100; use <, > and = signs.
• Read and write numbers to at least 100 in numerals and words.
• Use place value and number facts to solve problems.

Today can you explore reading and writing numbers?

In year two we learn to read and write numbers in both numerals and words.

Have a go at practising your numbers. Can you write them in numerals and words? Remember your number formation and your spelling!

Use the ‘number word mat’ to help you with your spellings- look, cover, write, check! Then have a go at representing numbers in lots of different ways, like this:

Numerals       Number in words    Number of tens and ones     Pictorial(this is what you did yesterday)

32           thirty two    3 tens and 2 ones      lll ..

Challenge: Have a go at filling in the missing boxes on the ‘reading and writing numbers’ worksheet and create your own! (This sheet does not need to be printed).

SATS Targeted Practise Workbook:

Have a go at the ‘numbers and counting’ and ‘counting forwards and backwards’ section of your workbook (pages 12-15).
