Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another fabulous week at Wilnecote Junior Academy. The beautiful weather has provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to enjoy being outdoors, supporting both their learning and wellbeing.
Year 6 have had a particularly important week, taking part in a SATs preparation workshop delivered by the Staffordshire Wellbeing Team. The session focused on helping pupils look after themselves and feel confident and prepared in the lead-up to their assessments. The children engaged maturely and thoughtfully throughout.
Class Fine enjoyed their outdoor learning day, made even more memorable by parents joining them for the activities. It was lovely to see families working alongside the children and sharing in such positive learning experiences. Remember to check the school calendar to see when your child has their outdoor learning day.
As part of our commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning across the school, we welcomed several visitors this week to observe practice and review our provision. We are extremely proud to share a snapshot of the positive feedback we received:
- Behaviour for learning was consistently strong, with pupils remaining focused, engaged and eager to learn in all classrooms.
- Lessons are well planned, enabling pupils to build on prior learning and make good progress.
We are extremely proud of our dedicated staff and the exemplary conduct of our pupils.
Parent Survey
Thank you to all parents and carers who took the time to complete our recent parent experience survey. We are delighted that the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive. It was particularly encouraging to see that parents feel welcome in our school and confident in the quality of teaching their child receives.
We value your feedback and want to continue to strengthen communication. Going forward, events where parents are invited into school will be clearly highlighted on the school calendar with “(parents welcome)”, making this clear at a glance.
Our School ‘PRIDE’ Values
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of our school values. These values are the golden thread that drive excellence and shape the positive culture at Wilnecote Junior Academy.
We believe in achieving together and taking PRIDE in everything we do:
- Perseverance
- Respect
- Inquisitiveness
- Determination
- Enthusiasm
Swimming Awards
We would like to give a special shout-out to all of the children who took part in the Swimming Gala last week. As a school, we achieved a fantastic eight gold medals and one bronze medal – an incredible accomplishment that everyone should be very proud of.
Throughout the event, the children demonstrated excellent teamwork, perseverance and determination. Their positive attitude and sportsmanship were noticed by many, which is reflected in the lovely feedback we received from one parent:
“I wanted to write to extend my warmest congratulations and heartfelt thanks for such a wonderful swimming gala last night. It was truly a joy to watch and, like many parents present, I left feeling incredibly proud, not only of my own son, but of every single student who represented the school so positively and passionately.”
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came along to support the children — your continued encouragement and support make such a difference and are greatly appreciated.
Summer Term Reminder
As we approach the Summer Term, we kindly ask for your support in helping children stay healthy and comfortable during the warmer weather.
Water Bottles
Please ensure that your child brings a filled water bottle to school every day. Staying hydrated is especially important as temperatures rise, and having easy access to water helps children keep focused and energised throughout the day.
Sun Protection
On sunny days, please send your child to school wearing sun cream. If they may need to reapply it during the school day, you are welcome to provide a labelled bottle of sun cream for them to use. Please note that children must be able to apply their own sun cream.
Parking Reminder for Parents and Carers
To help keep our children safe and to ensure the smooth running of drop-off and pick-up times, we kindly remind all parents and carers to park safely and responsibly around the school site. Please support us by following the guidance below:
- Avoid parking on yellow zig-zag lines or in any restricted areas.
- Do not park across or block local residents’ driveways, even for a short time.
- Keep pedestrian crossings and footpaths clear at all times to support safe access.
- Use designated parking areas wherever possible, and avoid stopping in the middle of the road.
- Drive slowly and stay highly alert, especially during busy periods when children may be harder to see.
- Only use the staff car park with prior permission, as this area must remain accessible and safe for those working onsite.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a safe environment for our pupils and a respectful relationship with our neighbours.

Sofa Bed Looking for a New Home
We have a used two-seater sofa bed that the school no longer needs and would love to offer it a new home. It is in working order but will require a new mattress. If you are interested, please contact the school office for further information.
