The government has provided funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 as part of its commitment to the London 2012 Olympic legacy. All schools will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil in Years 1-6. The money provided can only be spent on sport and PE provision but it is up to individual schools to decide how best to spend the PE and Sport Premium.
At Heathfields Infant and Wilnecote Junior funding has been allocated in various ways to provide additional specialist sports provision, both for school based curriculum and extra curricular activities. Additional sports equipment has been purchased. Sports coaches provide a range of sporting opportunities for targetted groups of children during lunchtime.
Throughout 2015/16 Wilnecote Junior School has assigned a portion of the sports premium to support teachers Continual Professional Development in PE and enable teachers to work with specialist sports coaches, developing their expertise and skill in delivering sports to all learners.
