VE day

Picture 1

On Friday 8th May we will celebrate VE day. Victory in Europe day was a public holiday on 8th May 1945 to mark the defeat of Germany by the Allied forces in World War 2. More than a million people celebrated all across the UK.

National activities you could join in with:

11am – 2 minute silence on your doorstep.

3pm Churchill speech shown on BBC

9pm National sing along to ‘We’ll meet again’ with Royal British Legion after the Queen’s speech. This will be after your bedtime so ask your grown up to record it.

You could host a VE day party at home for your family. There are some ideas below to help you make your party a success! There is an invitation for you to fill in to invite people to your party. You could make some decorations for your party, a spitfire, some posters and union jack bunting.  There are even some war time recipes for you to try too!

You could even listen to some 1940’s music and have a dance!

We can’t wait to see your VE day parties on tapestry!
